What happens at skateboard camp?
Camps involve a mix of group games, skateboard teaching sessions, snack times, and free skateboarding time. Our first day of camp will be spent on a flat cement arena space, learning the basics; the remaining 4 days will be spent at the Cochrane outdoor skatepark, where we’ll learn how to ride ramps, and transition. An itinerary will be made available in mid May.
Where are skate camps held?
The first day of skateboard camps is held at the Spray Lakes Arena in an empty hockey rink. This is a perfect space to get everyone comfortable with the basics of riding a skateboard before moving to the skatepark. Every other day is held at Cochrane skatepark, weather permitting. If rain is in the forecast, we will let everyone know the evening before that it will be moved to Spray Lakes Arena.
What does my kid need for this camp?
Each kid needs a skateboard and a helmet. Wrist guards, elbow pads and knee pads are also recommended. We’ll be outside for a greater portion of camp, so a water bottle and sunscreen are also recommended.
What Ages Are The Camps For?
Our skate camps are designed for kids ages 7-15 of all skill levels. But if you would like your kid who is slightly younger or older to register, please reach out to us and we should be able to accommodate them.
Can I register for both weeks of camp?
Yes! This year you can do both weeks of camps if you want because they are not set to specific skill levels.
What If I can’t afford skateboard camp?
Our heart is that every youth is given the opportunity to learn how to skateboard. We are offering sponsorships for families who can’t financially make skateboarding work. If you know someone who would like to go to skateboard camp but is financially unable to attend, please reach out to us with an email at firstname.lastname@example.org we’d love to help!
If you have any additional questions or concerns, do not hesitate to get in touch with us via email, or phone.
So excited these are back again this year!
